Our Johannesburg Melrose Shree Siva Subramaniar Temple will be observing its annual Chitra Paruvam Kavady festival main day prayer on 16 April 2022.
The main day Kavady possession will commence at 08h45 on Saturday the 16th April 2022.
All devotees are required to set up by 8h30 so that we can proceed to the Chinese Park by 8h45.
Please note all our above mentions processes and procedures are subject to covid restrictions that may be in force at the time of the kavady festival.

Devotees wishing to make donations in cash to offset the cost of this prayer festival can do so via electronic transfer into our temple bank account as listed below.
Devotees wishing to sponsor the daily obeyums over the 10 day Kavady festival are encouraged to contact our Chairman, Mags Padayachee on +27 71 609 0620.
Donations in kind can be dropped off with Guru at the temple during the day.
Our temple is in need of:
- Rice and
- Oil (both cooking and lamp oil).
These items will be used during the kavady festival and surplus items will be used on our monthly annadhanum project.
The Kavady prayers will be live streamed via Zoom for devotees. The temple committee will constantly monitor the situation and should there be any change, the devotees will be informed via whatsapp notification and our website.
The donations we receive during our Thai Poosam kavady is crucial to fund the ongoing costs of the staff and maintenance in the temple.
Devotees are humbly requested to contribute to the temple if you are able to and this will be greatly appreciated.
